Nothing kills a room's vibe faster than a print that's too small for the wall. Here's a simple guide to getting the size right every time.
Above a sofa
Aim for artwork that's roughly two-thirds the width of the sofa. A single large piece works beautifully, or try a pair of A2 prints side by side for a balanced, considered look.
Above a bed
Go wide. A single large piece centred above the headboard makes a bold statement, or flank the headboard with two matching prints at equal height for a symmetrical, hotel-like feel.
Small walls and alcoves
A3 prints in a simple frame punch well above their weight in compact spaces. Don't be tempted to go too large — breathing room around the print is part of the composition.
Empty hallways
A vertical A2 or A1 creates drama without taking up floor space. Hallways are often overlooked but they're the first thing guests see — make them count.
A quick size cheat sheet
- A3 (297 × 420mm) — desks, shelves, small walls
- A2 (420 × 594mm) — above sofas, bedroom feature walls
